Young Engineers
Group Visits
We have recently been hosting some groups of potential Young engineers to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway - these have been funded through our National Lottery Heritage Fund grant - we are bringing some specific groups to the site to see the work in progress and hopefully get some future volunteers.
Railway 200 Celebration
On September 27th and 28th the GWSR will be celebrating 200 years of railways in the UK - we will be taking part by staging our photographic exhibition of our current project and showcasing many of the engineering tasks that our volunteers are undertaking. Come along and have a look behind the scenes - you will have the chance to get onto a loco footplate with experienced crew to show you how it all works.
Young Engineers
Our young engineers page will give some links to interesting activities and include activities which we hope will not only keep you busy and amused, but will help to show you how steam engines work and are mended
Our first link is to the extremely popular Peter's Railway site and we are indebted to Chris Vine for permission to use this link
We will be adding further links from time to time so keep checking back
Why not enjoy this video of some (all be it old) miniature railways:

Statfold Barn
A recent visit to Statfold Barn Railway was both enjoyable and very interesting - it is well worth a visit . Their engineering department make parts for many preservation groups including for standard gauge locos. As well as their workshop they have many interesting locos.
